Frequently asked questions
Which files does SampleSpace treat as duplicates?
Only byte-identical audio files: same size, same fingerprint and the same SHA-256 checksum. The same sound saved in another format, sample rate or with different metadata is not a duplicate.
Which copy is kept?
The copy in the library highest in your list. Drag libraries in the sidebar to change the order. Within one library, the oldest file is kept.
Will removing duplicates break my DAW projects?
A project that used a removed copy will ask you to locate the file. Point it to the copy SampleSpace kept, or restore the file from the Trash with Put Back.
I moved samples to the Trash, but I have not got more space.
Empty the Trash in Finder. Files you copied in Finder on an APFS drive may already share storage, so removing them frees less than their size suggests.
Can I scan external drives?
Yes. Add any folder on any drive; macOS asks you once to allow access.
What is free and what does Pro unlock?
Scanning, every duplicate group, preview and Show in Finder are free. SampleSpace Pro is a one-time purchase that moves the extra copies to the Trash. No subscription.
I bought Pro on another Mac. How do I unlock it here?
Use the same Apple Account, open SampleSpace and choose Restore Purchase in the Pro window.
